Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough + Chest Congestion DM, 8 fl oz, combines dextromethorphan 20 mg and guaifenesin 400 mg per 20 mL. It suppresses cough from minor irritation and loosens mucus to help make coughing more productive.
Directions
Adults and children 12 and older: 20 mL every four hours, maximum six doses in 24 hours. Do not use under 12. Measure only with the supplied cup.
Choosing a cough medicine
This formula provides cough suppression and an expectorant. It differs from nighttime DM, which adds a sedating antihistamine, and from multisymptom products with pain relievers. Check other medicines for duplicate ingredients.
Before use
Do not use with an MAOI or within two weeks after stopping one. Ask a clinician about a chronic cough, excess mucus, pregnancy, nursing or other medicines. Seek advice if cough persists beyond seven days, returns, or occurs with fever, rash or persistent headache.
Storage
Keep at 20–25°C (68–77°F); do not refrigerate. Check the safety seal and expiry date and keep away from children. Suspected overdose requires prompt medical help.
