About Starside Drugs
In July 1980, a pharmacist founded Starside Drugs on Main Street in Flushing, New York, to provide pharmacy services to the community. After graduating from medical school, Peter Koo worked part-time as a pharmacist at Starside Drugs while working at a hospital. In 1991, Mr. Koo took over Starside Drugs and gave it the Chinese name On Ning Pharmacy.
Under Mr. Koo's leadership, On Ning Pharmacy grew rapidly, opening several locations beyond the original Main Street store and serving the heart of Flushing. Its services expanded from prescriptions and OTC products to medical equipment, health products, and other convenient services.
Mr. Koo actively contributed to community development and public service. His work for Flushing's Chinese community earned broad support and led to his election to the New York City Council, where he represented the area.
Today, On Ning Pharmacy is known as Starside Drugs. We continue to operate with integrity, move forward with the times, and provide the community with better pharmacy services.

We were among the first Chinese pharmacies to use computerized processing and review systems and among the earliest retail pharmacies in the United States to use automated dispensing equipment. We continue to use technology to support medication safety.
