Uses

Temporarily relieves minor backache, muscle aches, headaches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, common-cold pain and minor arthritis pain; also temporarily reduces fever.

How to use

Adults and children ages 12 and older: one caplet every eight to twelve hours while symptoms last. For the first dose, two caplets may be taken within the first hour. Do not exceed two caplets in any eight-to-twelve-hour period or three caplets in 24 hours. Drink a full glass of water with each dose. Children under 12: ask a doctor.

Important safety information

Naproxen can cause severe allergic reactions, serious stomach bleeding and cardiovascular risks. Do not use after an allergic reaction to a pain reliever or around heart surgery. Ask a doctor about ulcers, bleeding, heart or kidney disease, anticoagulants, steroids and other medicines. Avoid adding ibuprofen, aspirin for pain or another NSAID on your own. Ask about use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Common question

Can I take it as often as ibuprofen?

No. Naproxen has a different labeled dosing interval and daily limit. Seek medical advice if pain lasts over 10 days or fever over three days; urgent symptoms such as black stools, vomiting blood, chest pain or trouble breathing need prompt help.
