Benadryl Extra Strength Itch Stopping Cream, 1 oz, contains diphenhydramine HCl 2% for temporary pain and itch relief, plus zinc acetate 0.1% as a skin protectant. This is the cream formula.

What it helps

For insect bites, minor burns, sunburn, minor cuts, scrapes, skin irritation and poison ivy, oak or sumac rashes. Also helps dry oozing from those plant rashes.

Directions

• Adults and children 2+: apply to the affected area no more than 3–4 times daily.
• Under 2: ask a doctor.

Avoid duplicate ingredients

Do not use on large areas or alongside any other diphenhydramine product, including oral Benadryl. Avoid eyes. Ask a doctor before applying to chickenpox or measles.

When to stop

Consult a doctor if the condition worsens, does not improve within 7 days, persists longer, or returns within a few days.

Storage and handling

Keep away from children and excessive heat above 40°C (104°F). Obtain immediate help if swallowed. Original and Extra Strength contain different diphenhydramine concentrations; check the tube before use.
